Cash only take out dim sum. Price is reasonable in the Sunset area (chinatown is much cheaper and also better). Food was mostly mediocre and some was bad.
My biggest complain is that they put water chestnut in literally everything! I love water chestnut but not all dim sum should have it and the large chunks really affected the experience.
Shumai: I tried beef, chicken and shrimp. They taste like the frozen beef/chicken balls you get from Asian market. Not authentic at all - not a fan. (I don't think you can usually mess up shumai but these were disappointing)
Chinese donut: dry and super oily
Shrimp Chives dumpling: I liked this one the most. They had a lot of shrimp but I think the flavor can be better.
Sponge cake: meh...
Chicken pie: really bland and the custard was so oily.
Wife cake (seet melon puff): too much water chestnut! I didn't like the filling at all it was just so bland.
Har gow: not much filling and the flour wrapper was super thick.
In general, their flavor is lacking and price quickly adds up. Will not go back. -

Cash only! No frills take out dim sum. Prices are cheap and dim sum is solid.
Har gow (shrimp dumplings) - Decent. Con, the wrapper is thick.
Har cherng (shrimp rolls) - Ok. I'd order it again!
Siu mai - Good, though it's difficult to mess up a meatball.
Man Tou (plain bun, no fillings) - Fluffy. -

By no means is this place the best dim sum you'll get. Far from it. However, if you're like me ... pressed for time and hunger pain strikes, TC could be a good place to fill your belly with some good 'ol greasy dim sum, quick.
The place has no sense of decor, so expect that. It's true to a Chinatown spot where items are repurposed (ie. Cardboard boxes are flattened and used as floor mats during rainy days)
There's a decent selection of items but nothing fancy as you'd might find in an actual restaurant. Each piece sells for about 90 cents, or you can get an order of 3 and save a whopping 10-20 cents.
I ordered the shrimp dumpling (har gow) chicken dumpling (siu mai) and a shrimp & cilantro dumpling. They were all greasy, decent and edible, especially for someone who's in a big hurry and hungry. The chicken pie is basically a handheld version of a chicken pot pie with peas and carrots, and it's also slightly sweet. Not bad.
There are seats inside tucked into a corner. But it's set up for those who really don't care about ambiance, and who rather sit here then eat in their cars.
From what I ordered, nothing will make me want to make a special trip out here. But simply put, TC Pastry does the job.
Pro tip: order items that they only have one in the display as a sample. Because these will be pulled hot out of a steamer. The shrimp & cilantro or chive dumplings have been sitting out and they were cold. -

I was on my way to visit my parents who requested that I bring back some sio mai. This was one of the better locations closest to me at the time so I stopped by and picked up the goods.
CASH ONLY! So be prepared, because I was not and that was inconvenient...made it work and picked up a dozen sio mai and one order of Malaysian sponge cake. Overall cost was around $13 if I remember correctly.
The lady initially put the sponge cake in the same container as the sio mai so I moved it after she handed it over...didn't need sio mai flavored sponge cake.
Once I finally gave the goods, I was able to try them. The sponge cake was a good texture but disappointing in taste, had that burnt caramel taste but not quite sweet enough. It was odd. The sio mai was juicy but a bit on the saltier side.
Overall, okay experience. I probably would choose to go to a different dim sum spot!
